KIE Kindness Challenge #2 is The “Don’t Break The Chain” KIE Kindness Challenge:
- The 24 Hour KIE Kindness Challenge
The “Don’t Break The Chain” KIE Kindness Challenge
- The Traveling KIE Kindness Challenge
- The 30 Day “I Love You” KIE Kindness Challenge
The Challenge:
Do an act of kindness for a different person every day for as long as you can.
(If you believe the more the merrier, invite friends to join you and see whose kindness chain lasts the longest. Kindness loves company!)
The Goal:
To be kind to as many different people as possible.
This Kindness Is Everything (KIE) Kindness Challenge inspires creativity and is a lot of fun.
How many different lives can you touch with your kindness?
How many days in a row can you better the life of another human being — even if only for a moment — without stopping?
What’s the longest you can make your chain of kindness?
The “Don’t Break The Chain” KIE Kindness Challenge was inspired by a productivity technique often attributed to the comedian Jerry Seinfeld. Seinfeld once told a young comic seeking advice that the way to be a better comic was to write every day.
To help that young man achieve his goals every day, Seinfeld then shared the following system that worked for him:
- Mark the days you did your desired activity on a large, one-page wall calendar with a big, satisfying “X”, and allow the successful marked days to form a chain. The longer you do what you wish, the longer your chain of success.
- Your only concern thereafter is to not break the chain. Don’t break the chain!
This goal setting method has been used successfully in a wide variety of activities and is a great way to keep track of consecutive days of kindness.
Keep Adding To Your Kindness Chain
Kindness chains are as fun and unique as the people who create them.
Your goal in The Don’t Break The Chain KIE Kindness Challenge is to make your kindness chain as long as you possibly can because each link on your chain represents so much more than just an “X”:
- It represents a person in this world whose life you changed in a positive way, even if only for a little while, because you purposefully chose to be kind.
As you do more acts of kindness for different people on consecutive days, your chain will grow longer.
The longer your kindness chain, the more you’ll be challenged to go beyond your comfort zone and interact with new people.
That’s the beauty of this Kindness Challenge — it pushes your kindness to expand its reach.
As you slowly work your way through your friends and family and seek to add more people to your chain, you may find yourself taking advantage of beautiful opportunities for random acts of kindness — such as giving a stranger on the street a helping hand or offering someone who’s struggling (in person or on the Internet) a few kind words.
You’ll be on the lookout for new ways to connect with the people around you, and you’ll likely find them. In fact, you might find so much more.
The Possibilities Are Endless
How many new friends can you make with this Kindness Is Everything Challenge?
How many old relationships can you rekindle and strengthen?
How much better can you make the community in which you live or the world in which we all live?
No one knows where one act of kindness can lead or how much a single act of kindness may mean to others. No one knows who’s hurting just by looking.
We do know, however, that kindness is wonderful. It’s hopeful and healing. It warms people’s hearts, restores faith in humanity, and can give those who are suffering the strength to continue when times are hard.
Here’s what else we know:
- Kindness is contagious. The more people we do acts of kindness for, the more we inspire those very same people to want to do their own kind acts.
As the ripple effect of kindness works its magic from person to person and inspires those who receive acts of kindness to do acts of kindness, just imagine how much good this daily acts of kindness Challenge can do.
Our world is so big and our kindness can sometimes seem so small. The Don’t Break The Chain KIE Kindness Challenge, however, gives kindness a chance to magnify and multiply — so let’s create smiles, brighten days, and start chains of kindness that have the potential to never end.
